Network Security Assessment

What is the Network Security Assessment?

An Assessment is not a sales call.  It is an opportunity for ONE IT to gain objective insight to your critical business systems and related IT platforms.  It is a multiple session engagement involving some electronic monitoring, user questionnaires and key stakeholder interviews.  The entire assessment is facilitated by the ONE Team, who will conduct an interactive session with key members of your organization that are interested in understanding their current security profile and any potential vulnerability.  This assessment can then be used to help balance the complexity and costs of managing and securing a technology infrastructure without restricting future growth, connectivity or collaboration requirements.

After completion of the assessment process, ONE will deliver a report with findings and recommendations to help you get the most of your technology investment.  The Assessment will help you identify industry best practices that may be appropriate for your organization, identify relevant software tools and applications that could reduce your vulnerabilities, increase operational efficiency, and assist you in developing a long-term security plan that meets your specific business needs.  This service is targeted at any organization relying on a Microsoft-based network including any Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 networks.

The assessment will be customized to your organization’s specific needs, but will include many of the following topics:

  • Connectivity and communication requirements
  • Operating System configurations
  • User profiles and associated needs
  • Internet usage habits
  • Electronic Mail server configuration and spamming controls
  • System standards, policies and change control procedures
  • Remote and wireless access configuration
  • System logs
  • Configuration of Internet connection and firewall platforms
  • Backup procedures and disaster recovery plans
  • Virus and Spyware configuration and controls

Would you benefit from the Network Security Assessment?

Are any of these questions relevant to your firm?

  • Do you have confidential client information stored on your system?
  • Would system downtime caused by a “hacked” system interrupt your business?
  • Do you have confidential intellectual property your competitors would be interested in?
  • Are your users downloading seemingly innocent email jokes that may be offensive to others?
  • 80% of pornography is downloaded during business hours.
  • Have your systems been impacted by any of the recent viruses or worms?
  • Does your insurance agent or accountant require a security plan?
  • Are you going to have to manually update all of Windows XP machines?
  • Are your users complaining of pop-up adds?
  • Could you recover your systems in a reasonable amount of time in the advent of digital theft or a destructive virus?
  • Is Spam out of control chewing up your employee’s time and decreasing the value of e-mail?
  • Are users installing non-sanctioned applications on their workstations?

As automated business processes and virtual teams rely more and more on your network infrastructure and the integrity of your data, it is increasingly more important for you to secure your entire computing environment now and develop the best practices to monitor and maintain it in the future.

ONE’s Networking Security Assessment will provide you with guidance on how to:

  • Secure your company’s assets - Develop and sustain a competitive advantage through a superior IT infrastructure, and protect your company’s vital corporate information assets from unauthorized access
  • Minimize Business Risk – Once downloaded onto a company computer, a file becomes the property of the organization that owns the computer.   This includes offensive emails, pictures, sound files and video.  A seemingly innocent joke could put your company in court for years.
  • Maximize your IT investment - Decrease the costs associated with security management and support of your IT infrastructure using integrated solutions, proven products, and expert guidance/best practices.
  • Implement the required controls and policies – ONE will assist in implementing controls and policies to ensure your team fully understands what they are allowed to use the information technology system for and what material is not to be downloaded or forwarded from a company owned computer.  It is important that all staff understand the business risk they may be inadvertently causing.
